For us at SUNRATE, prioritising sustainability isn't just about ethical responsibility; it's a strategic imperative. We recognise that businesses increasingly seek partners who share their environmental values.

Why sustainability matters to us

Beyond business benefits, we understand the direct impact of climate change on our operations. Integrating sustainability into our strategies enhances our resilience, ensuring long-term stability in the face of environmental challenges.

"By positioning ourselves this way, we can attract environmentally conscious businesses, expand our customer base, and strengthen stakeholder relationships."

Paul Meng, Co-Founder at SUNRATE

Our journey towards a greener future

Our journey began with the "Payments Across Greener Borders" campaign, a commitment to tangible environmental impact. We chose reforestation as our primary focus, supported by operational changes. Scientific studies highlighted the crucial role of tree cover in regulating temperatures and maintaining ecosystem health, solidifying our decision. This commitment led us to join Mastercard’s Priceless Planet Coalition, a global initiative aiming to plant 100 million trees.

SUNRATE joined Mastercard’s Priceless Planet Coalition in May 2024.

Bringing sustainability closer to home

Besides global initiatives, we have partnered with Singapore’s Garden City Fund (GCF), supporting their efforts to enhance urban biodiversity. "With our global headquarters in Singapore, it made sense to anchor our campaign here," says Paul Meng, one of our co-founders. "We chose GCF for its credibility and the knowledge that 100% of donations directly support their projects."

Embedding sustainability in our business

Sustainability is not just about external initiatives as it is about how we operate as well. In line with our global sustainability-friendly initiatives, we introduced eco-friendly corporate gifts and NFC name cards to reduce waste and minimise our environmental footprint.

SUNRATE transitioned to near-field communication (NFC) name cards that enable employees to share contact information with someone’s device via a single tap.

Building a Climate-Conscious Community

Looking ahead, we are committed to driving sustainability within the fintech industry. By integrating greener practices and championing initiatives like regional tree planting, we aim to make a meaningful impact. Collaboration is key, and we look forward to working with fintech partners, industry associations, and government bodies to advance collective sustainability efforts.
