As part of our strategic growth in Southeast Asia, we are looking for an experienced and dynamic Country General Manager to lead our operations in Malaysia. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of SUNRATE’s business in the country. This senior leadership role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in managing high-performing teams, driving commercial success, and navigating complex market environments.

What you’ll be spending your time on: 

1. Strategic Leadership:

Develop and execute country-level strategy aligned with SUNRATE’s key business growth goals. Set KPIs and drive sustainable growth.

2. People Management:

Hire, lead, and develop a diverse and high-performing local team. Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

3. Cross-functional Collaboration:

Work closely with regional and global teams across Sales, Product, Operations, Compliance, and Marketing to ensure cohesive execution.

4. Business Development & Sales:

Identify and drive new business opportunities. Oversee sales strategies, manage key accounts, and ensure customer satisfaction to grow revenue and market share.

5. Industry & Market Insight:

Monitor and analyse local market trends, customer needs, competitive activities, and regulatory changes. Provide actionable insights and recommendations to the leadership team.

6. Stakeholder Engagement:

Build and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, including customers, regulators, partners, and government agencies.

7. Operational Excellence:

Manage budget planning and execution. Ensure the effectiveness of local operations and adherence to compliance standards.

8. Change Management:

Lead change initiatives, particularly in areas of business expansion and digital transformation. Manage transitions effectively with clear communication and stakeholder alignment.

For this role you also have:

1. Experience:

Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, preferably in fintech, financial services, or related industries.

2. Leadership:

Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage P\&L, and deliver strong business results.

3. Sales & Business Acumen:

Proven track record in developing successful sales strategies and partnerships that drive growth.

4. Communication:

Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills in both local languages and English.

5. Market Knowledge:

Deep understanding of the Malaysian business environment, regulatory framework, and payment ecosystem is a strong advantage.
