The Compliance Manager is responsible for driving the growth and operational readiness of the Malaysia Compliance Operations Team. The role’s primary KPI is hiring and onboarding, while also ensuring operational consistency, staff engagement, retention, and cross-departmental coordination.
What you’ll be spending your time on:
- Talent Acquisition & Headcount Delivery
Own the end-to-end hiring process for the Malaysia Compliance Operations Team
Work with Head of Compliance on roles, headcount planning, and hiring priorities
Source, screen, and coordinate interviews; track hiring metrics to meet team expansion targets - Onboarding & Integration
Coordinate onboarding logistics and ensure smooth integration of new hires
Work with Team Leads to align training schedules and knowledge handovers
Monitor early engagement and performance of new hires - Retention & Team Engagement
Support retention strategies and staff development initiatives
Act as first point of contact for team concerns and engagement
Foster a positive, accountable, and high-performing team culture - Operational Oversight
Supervise day-to-day activities of compliance staff in collaboration with Team Leads
Ensure workloads are balanced, deadlines are met, and SOPs are followed
Track team KPIs (productivity, quality, turnaround times) - Cross-Departmental Collaboration
Liaise with HR, Operations, Product, Tech, and other business teams to support hiring and operational coordination
Ensure resources and processes are aligned to enable rapid team growth
Escalate cross-functional issues affecting hiring or operations - Reporting & Escalation
Provide regular updates to Head of Compliance on hiring progress, team performance, and operational readiness
Escalate operational challenges, resourcing gaps, or retention risks
For this role you'll also have:
- Proven experience in people management and compliance operations
- Strong organisational skills with ability to manage high-volume hiring in Malaysia
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to track metrics
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across departments
