Uniting Our Global Team Through Shared Experiences

More than 1,000 metres above sea level at Genting Highlands, some of SUNRATE's team members took on the challenge of clocking their steps in the cool temperatures and iconic thick fog.

While digital tools keep teams connected day to day, SUNRATE believes that meaningful relationships are strengthened when people step away from screens and spend time together in real life. Strong collaboration, trust and alignment don’t happen by chance, they are cultivated through shared experiences. At SUNRATE, team-building is never just about travel or time away from work. Every experience is designed around the same principles that guide how the company operates globally – staying compliant, thinking ahead, having fun, striving to be extraordinary, and remaining humble as one team.

This year, those values took teams across the region. From South Korea to Malaysia and beyond, SUNRATE's cross-department team-building experiences reconnected people, sparked fresh perspectives and strengthened the foundations for the work they do together.

Different Destinations, One Shared Purpose

Each trip looked a little different, but every experience was grounded in a shared set of values. Some teams travelled to destinations like Japan and South Korea to step away from routine and reset together — creating space to reflect, listen and approach challenges with a more forward-thinking mindset. Others explored vibrant cities and nature-rich landscapes in Malaysia, blending cultural discovery with shared activities that encouraged teams to slow down and reconnect.

By stepping into new environments together, teams practised the same values that guide SUNRATE globally - thinking ahead, working with trust and integrity, and collaborating with humility across cultures.

These shared moments reinforced that being extraordinary does not come from breaking routine for its own sake, but from curiosity, adaptability and collective effort. Regardless of destination, the purpose remained the same: strengthening connections beyond roles and structures, so teams can work better together across borders.

In many locations, bustling cityscapes gave way to serene nature trails and mountain views. Stepping away from daily deadlines creates space for more open, unhurried conversations, allowing teams to listen, reflect and understand one another better.

Wellness at the Heart of This Year’s Team-Building Experience

This year’s cross-department team-building programme was anchored around the theme “Physical & Mental Wellness.” Alongside travel and shared experiences, teams across regions took part in a friendly Health Competition designed to encourage movement, mindfulness and collective motivation.

Soaking up the sun on a boat ride, some of SUNRATE’s team members enjoyed the scenery during their Sarawak trip at Bako National Park.

The challenge invited teams to track daily step counts and calories burned, turning everyday movement into a shared goal. Whether it was walking through unfamiliar cities, trekking nature trails or choosing to move more together between activities, the initiative brought out SUNRATE’s "Be Fun" spirit, while also reinforcing discipline, consistency and personal accountability.

With headlamps and trekking shoes on, SUNRATE’s team members paused for a group photo at the Fairy Caves in Sarawak.

Members of SUNRATE’s teams explored the spectacular limestone formations, including the Fairy Caves’ impressive stalactites and stalagmites.

More than just numbers, the challenge reflected how SUNRATE approaches progress through small, sustained actions carried out fairly and transparently, in line with its commitment to compliance and integrity. Teams supported one another’s wellbeing both physical and mental, wherever they were in the world, demonstrating humility, care and shared responsibility. While the winning team earned bragging rights for clocking the highest total step count, the real outcome was a forward-thinking commitment to healthier habits and stronger collaboration.

Building Trust Through Shared Experiences

From walking through nature trails to exploring local cultural landmarks, these moments reinforce what being compliant truly means at SUNRATE: respecting risk, acting with integrity, staying transparent, and making balanced decisions that support long-term growth. Trust isn’t built overnight, but built through consistency, openness and shared understanding.

Travelling together also nurtures forward-thinking teams. Adapting to new environments fosters curiosity, resilience and continuous learning, which are qualities that are essential in a fast-moving global payments landscape.

More Than a Break From Work

At SUNRATE, team trips are not about ticking a box or escaping work. Across every destination and experience, these moments bring SUNRATE’s five corporate values to life — building trust through integrity and compliance, having fun together, striving to be extraordinary through collective effort, remaining forward-thinking in unfamiliar environments, and staying humble as one global team.

As the year draws to a close, these shared experiences reflect the culture SUNRATE continues to build: one where people feel connected, supported and aligned, enabling teams to do their best work together, wherever they are in the world.
