​On 30 July, the SUNRATE Employee Experience Committee rolled out its first-ever pickleball event at Performance Pickleball, an indoor-sheltered pickleball facility in Punggol. As one of the fastest-growing sports globally, pickleball proved to be an instant hit with our team members who enthusiastically picked up the paddles at the start of the event, learnt the basics, and enjoyed a series of friendly matches.​

Personalised coaching to level up the game 

The pickleball team-building event kicked off with a personalised coaching session led by an experienced pickleball trainer. With the session focused on fundamentals such as proper grip, stance, and shot techniques, even first-time players felt supported. By tailoring guidance to different skill levels, the coach helped everyone understand how to play pickleball better.

A team activity encouraging collaboration and connection

Beyond the game itself, the event was a great way for our team members to bond. Playing in pairs gave everyone the chance to communicate, work together and share a few laughs along the way. From cheering each other on to laughing over a missed shot, the light-hearted matches created opportunities where our team members could connect in a new, informal way, outside of the usual day-to-day roles at work.

Breaking barriers, one match at a time

One of the best parts of the event was how it broke down barriers across the organisation. Out on the court, job titles didn’t matter — it was simply colleagues from different teams and levels coming together, playing side by side and enjoying the game. This spirit of inclusivity reflects the culture we continue to build at SUNRATE: one that values collaboration, wellbeing, and mutual respect.
